19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a difficult year, managing just one win at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with former trainer Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from spring of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a decider.

He rescued four initial chances in a tight deciding set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
